2004 ARIA Music Awards

며칠 전부터 2004 ARIA Music Awards - (줄여서 그냥 ARIAS라고 하더라.)에 대한 광고가 꾸준히 방송되었는데, 처음엔 그게 뭔지 몰랐다. 그게 뭐지? 알고 보니 호주 음악상 같은 행사. ARIA란 Australian Recording Industry Association. 솔직히 아직도 왜 연말도 아닌, 연초도 아닌, 회계정산달도 아닌 10월에 하는지는 이해가 안되고 있다;

간단하게 홈페이지에서 찾아보니 수상은 음반산업에 종사하는 사람들의 투표로 결정이 되는 걸로 적혀있다. (다음의 일에 종사하는 사람들과 - 음반판매, 라디오, 출판, TV, 콘서트 프로모터, 에이전트, ARIA 회원들과 음반회사, ARIA 지난 수상자들.) 구체적으로 구성 비율도 적혀있고.

내가 모든 곡을 들어보지 않아서 구체적인 것들은 언급하기 어렵지만 몇가지 특징이라면 다음과 같다.

- 올해의 앨범을 락그룹이 받았다.
- 인디 방식으로 앨범을 제작한 뮤지션이 남자가수상, 블루스 음반상까지 받았다.
- 아이들 음반상이 따로 있다. (Best Children's Album)
- DVD상, 커버아트상이 있다.
- 대중적인 인기와 수상작들이 정확히 일치하지는 않는다.

Delta Goodrem이 작년에 7개 부문 수상을 했다던데, 올해의 최다 수상자는 Jet. 6개 부문 수상.
