예전에 제가 Camel을 처음 알았을 때를 생각해 보면 Rhayader 를 좋아했고, Stationary Traveller 를 좋아했지만 Long Goodbyes 는 별 느낌이 없었어요. 어정쩡한 발라드라고 생각했고, 가사도 밋밋하다고 느꼈죠.

언젠가부터 Long Goodbyes를 들으면 노래가 가슴에 파고 들더군요. 대놓고 슬프지도 못하는 어정쩡한 발라드라 더욱 마음이 아프고, 밋밋한 톤으로 이야기하는 화자의 목소리에서 세월의 고단함이 느껴지더군요.

예, 음악은 변하지 않는데, 음악을 듣는 사람은 변하더군요. 뒤돌아 보지 않는다고 생각했는데, 가끔 뒤돌아 보는 제가 느껴지더군요.
